Stevenage Football Club has confirmed its retained and released list ahead of next season's Sky Bet League One campaign, just days after crashing out of the promotion play-offs. Boro had completed the double over Stockport during the regular season but a bid for a first-ever EFL play-off final appearance soon evaporated. Over two legs they lost 2-0 at Edgeley Park and 1-0 in the first game at home after Stockport snatched a dramatic last-minute winner. Bolton went on to beat Stockport 4-1 in the Wembley final and secure promotion to the Championship. Now Stevenage FC has confirmed its retained list with several departures also noted. The club has retained key players such as Chem Campbell, Joe Knight, and Jordan Houghton, while Taye Ashby-Hammond, Beryly Lubala, and Tyreece Simpson have been released. The club remains in discussions with Harvey White and Charlie Goode. Stevenage's manager will be looking to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season, with the aim of improving on their play-off performance. The retained list includes players such as Dan Butler, Lewis Freestone, and Jamie Reid, who will be looking to make an impact in the upcoming season. The club has also offered first professional deals to Max Woodford, Lenny Brown, and Frank Norris. Loan players Gassan Ahadme and Harry Cornick have returned to their parent clubs. Stevenage's fans will be eagerly awaiting the new season, hoping that the club can build on their recent performance and make a push for promotion. The club's statement thanked each player for their time with the club and wished them the best of luck for the future. With the retained and released list now confirmed, Stevenage FC can start to look ahead to the new season and plan for the challenges that lie ahead.
